If you are in the Otterbein Mathematics Department lab (Towers 127) you can start JKarelRobot from the Windows Start menu (under Programs there should be a JKarelRobot option). You can access the tutorial from the link below.

Karel Tutorial

Note: When using your browser to view the tutorial, you will have to right-click on the links to initial worlds in order to save them as files, and then you will have to open each world from the Initial World tab. The JKarelRobot program also contains a built-in copy of the tutorial under the Help menu. This version of the tutorial is not as up to date. If you use the built-in tutorial, the links load the initial worlds automatically.

If you are not in our lab and want to run JKarelRobot you will have to install it by following the instructions below. The tutorial can still be accessed from the link above or from the JKarelRobot Help menu.

Run JKarelRobot
Depending on your browser, you will be told of a possible security hazard and be given the choice of opening or saving to disk. Choose 'Open it'

The first time you run JKarelRobot, you will get a message like:

You must press 'Start' to run JKarelRobot. It's okay: You know it's my program because you are accessing it from my site! Java Web Start does not take this fact into account when it makes its recommendation.

If you are not from Otterbein and are using JKarelRobot, the link below will provide additional installation options and information about the application.
