Welcome to the Department of Mathematical Sciences! We offer B.S. programs in mathematics, computer science, and actuarial science, and B.A. programs in mathematics and computer science. We also offer minors in mathematics and computer science. Many of our mathematics majors pursue licensure to teach secondary mathematics. Our B.A. program in computer science is available to Continuing Studies students who wish to pursue their degree at night while working during the day.
Our commitment to teaching is fivefold: to prepare our majors for advanced study in mathematics, computer science, and actuarial science; to prepare our majors for careers in their field; to prepare students for high school teaching in mathematics; to offer supporting courses for majors in other departments; and to offer remedial education in mathematics. We value scholarship and research, especially that which supports our teaching mission. We also strive to enrich and improve our department, college and community through service activities.
